A storefront rebuilt around a faster checkout, where the whole catalogue is filterable without a page reload. The old site lost people between the product page and the basket; this one does not.

Every filter change had been a full page load, and on a phone that was three seconds of blank screen. The constraint was that the platform could not be replaced, only the front of it.

Built the catalogue index, the filter layer and the checkout flow. Kept the existing templates working throughout so the team could ship in stages.

Filtering happens in the browser against a small index built at publish time, so changing a facet costs nothing. The basket is optimistic: it updates immediately and reconciles with the server afterwards.

Filtering went from roughly three seconds to instant, and the basket step stopped being where people left. Replace with your own numbers.
